'Embarrassment', 'occasionally' and 'necessary' have been named among the words Brits have most difficulty spelling.

「Embarrassment(尷尬)」、「occasionally(偶爾地)」and「necessary(必要的)」這些詞被評選成為英國人覺得最難拼寫的單詞！

Researchers, who carried out a study among 2,000 adults, found more than half frequently have issues spelling commonly-used words.

研究者對2000名成年人進行了研究調查，發現超過半數的成年人常常不會拼寫一些常用詞。

Others which we often struggle with are 'accommodate', 'questionnaire' and 'rhythm'.'Conscience' causes many a Brit a headache, and the words 'occurrence', 'restaurant' and 'guarantee' are also tricky to master.

英國人常常不會拼寫的詞還包括「accommodate(調解)」、「questionnaire(調查問卷)」and「rhythm(韻律)」，「Conscience(道德心)」這個詞讓很多英國人頭疼，「occurrence(事件)」、「restaurant(餐廳)」和「guarantee(保證)」等詞也令人感到難以駕馭。

The results of the study emphasized the average person's reliance on spelling assistance - 40 per cent confessed they completely rely on autocorrect technology to monitor their spelling in day-to-day communication.

研究者尤其強調，大眾常常依賴於拼寫工具——40%的人承認他們在日常交流中完全依賴於自動校對工具來保證拼寫正確。

Over a fifth would panic if they were forced to abandon the use of autocorrect or spell-checking technology and rely on their own knowledge.

超過1/5的人承認，如果要求他們不使用自動校對和拼寫檢查工具，依賴自己的單詞儲備知識，他們會感到恐慌。

But spelling mistakes still prove common and costly- just under a quarter of people have been embarrassed by a spelling mistake they made at work.

但是拼寫錯誤仍然是非常普遍的，而且成本很高——略少於1/4的人曾經因為在工作中犯拼寫錯誤而陷於尷尬境地。

While spelling ability is often noticed by others - 48 per cent of people admit they can't help but judge people if their spelling is bad.

儘管如此，人們卻常常注意他人的拼寫能力——48%的人承認會因為別人拼寫能力差而不自覺的對之產生偏見。
