The growing population of the world(世界人口), now estimated(估計) to be over 7 billion,

marks a global milestone(里程碑) and presents obvious challenges for the planet. 

There are extremely densely populated cities and sparsely(稀少地) populated countries. 

China is the most populous(人口眾多的) with India following closely behind.
